Violet Perry

NEW BEDFORD ~ Raymond R. Perry, 87, of Dartmouth passed away, Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Violet A. (Prevost) Perry to whom he had been married for the past 63 years.
Born in New Bedford a son of the late Antone Perry Sylvia and Antoine (Noel) Perry, he had been a life long resident of Dartmouth.
He was educated in local New Bedford schools, attended the former S.M.T.I. and received a degree in Business from the former Crown College in Providence. He worked in the Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford for many years. He was also an Insurance Agent for Metropolitan and worked at Northern Electric for many years before retiring in 1978.
He was an active member of the Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association (D.Y.A.A.) for 25 years having coached baseball and basketball. He was an avid boater and enjoyed sailing in the Padanaram and surrounding harbors. He enjoyed driving "Gunkleholeing" the entire east coast. He especially enjoyed music.
After losing the ability to walk he became well adjusted to his scooter. For the past ten years he was well known to many people in the community for driving his scooter on Dartmouth Street.
His Funeral will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 8:00 AM from the WARINGSULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Mary's Church 783 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday from 58 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to D.Y.A.A., P.O.Box 80052, Dartmouth, Massachusetts 02748. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
